A Wonderful Dad

Yesterday was Father's Day, I went to a BBQ for my grandpa to celebrate. It was so nice and yet sad for me  to see everyone posting pictures of their dads and giving shout outs to them. I tried to keep myself occupied with other things, because yesterday was the first Father's Day that has gone by since my dad passed away. He was diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread to other areas and he put up a strong fight and showed from strength and courage than anyone I have ever known. It will be a year in august since his passing and while this year has been full of firsts without him yesterday was hard for me. I like to think I hide my feelings when things make me sad, but the hurt is still in my heart and I miss him terribly. I thank the lord for blessing me with a father who was there for me and gave me strength and encouragement. He provided a great childhood for me and my siblings. Even though I couldn't celebrate with him, I know he was with me. I love you dad, you are my hero.
