Hello Friends,
Something I tend to mention from time to time on my blog is my love for Project Life Scrapbooking. I really love this way of scrapbooking and preserving memories. So I was thinking that I would give you all a little run down of what Project Life is all about and what things you will need to get started.
Project Life created by Becky Higgins, is a more simple way of getting your pictures and memories documented with out having to feel overwhelmed by the more traditional scrapbooking layouts. The idea is also to take more time and photos on your day to day life and at the end of the year you will have a full years worth of photos in a great keepsake album. I really fell in love this this way of scrapbooking because it really is as simple as printing out your photos slipping them into the pocket page protectors and adding a little bit of the traditional scrapbooking using the pretty patterned paper cards to add a little something to your layout. You can always add more things to your album and really get creative or you can simply just stick to pictures and the pattern cards.
If you are thinking about started a Project Life Scrapbook here are the basic 3 things you will need to get started!
1. You will need a 12x12 3 ring album. Project Life has a lot of beautiful options or you can always use something from anther brand if you choose. The one I used last year and will be using this year are both from We Are Memory Keepers. I got my albums from my local Target.
2. Core Kit - Although you can certainly make your own cards from different papers I find that getting a Core Kit really makes it that much more simple. The Core Kit comes with all the cards that are beautifully designed and they come with A Lot of cards! Last year was my first year scrapbooking with Project Life and at the end of it all I still have many cards leftover. I plan to save them for other projects. The card sizes are 4x6 and 3x4 this is also the size of photos you can use to slip into the pocket pages.
3. Pocket Page Protectors - You will need these to slip into the 3 ring album and to put all your photos and cards inside. There are many different layout options you can choose from. Last year I suck to one layout for the whole year and this year I am switching it up! There are other brands that also have some options for pocket pages, such as We Are Memory Keepers, Recollections, and Simple Stories.
Those are the 3 basic things you will need to get started on your Project Life Album, aside from your photos of course! I plan to share with you all my process with my layouts for each month. Last year I noticed that I would have a few months worth of photos and would print them all out in bulk. This was a easy way for me to get it completed. This year I want to be more on top of my album and stay more up to date then before. So my hope is to start printing out my photos at the end of the month and not fall so far behind. Once you get into the swing of everything you will find your own groove and what works best for you when it comes to putting everything together in your album.
I hope you all enjoyed this post and that it was some help to those of you who are thinking about scrapbooking the Project Life way.
