Caught Off Guard

Today was going pretty smoothly until the afternoon rolled around and I get a call from one of my aunts on my dad's side of the family. She told me heartbreaking news. My grandmother passed away around noon today. It came as such a surprise, I was completely caught off guard. I don't know many details just yet. All that I know is that she had a cold which was thought to have gone away in time but last night it got worse  and was taken into the hospital a few hours later she past away. I feel sad that I never got to say goodbye to her. She was an awesome woman and very funny. I loved hearing the stories she would share. I wish I could have seen her more frequently. Last time I saw her was on my wedding day. Since then I had talked with her on the phone or through letters in the mail. I still have all the beautiful birthday cards she has sent me over the years, the baby blanket she crochet for me when I was a little girl, and the crocheted blanket she made as a gift to my husband and I on our wedding. She was the best. She is now in heaven with my daddy. I miss them both.
