Peonies and Roses

Peonies, are one of my favorite type of flowers, they are so pretty! They have a romantic feeling to them. They remind me of roses but fuller and a lot more petals. I really want to plant some peonies in the back yard. Roses, are also on my list of favorite flowers. I have a door in my bedroom that leads out to the back yard and it has a little step. On one side of that step I currently have one rose bush. My mom gave it to me when my husband and I moved into our first place together. Now that we are back living with family, I of course brought it with me and my mom named it Antoinette. I think its fun to give names to plants haha. When I was little this was something my mom and I would always do. My mom use to garden all the time when I was little and some of my best memories are gardening with her and playing outside having tea parties and playing dress up being surrounded with flowers and hiding in little nooks that some of the taller flowers would naturally created. I remember there being some vegetables in the back yard as well. My dad loved to grow tomatoes and I remember being so curious, and really enjoyed seeing the process of growing your own food and seeing the changes a single seed goes through.

I would like to try and grow a simple vegetable but I'm still learning how to keep plants alive! haha I think once I master this a little better, I will give it a try! Until then I think I'll plant some peonies or some different flowers to decorate the outside of my back door. I really like the idea of having a little peaceful zen area. I could sit outside on that little step and smell the sweet flowers and soak up the sun! Or even enjoy a nice cool, grey day. There are so many possibility and this little project will definitely take some time and be a learning experience as well. My husband knows Ive been wanting to add some more flowers to our little corner of the back yard. I think in the next few weeks I'll need to pick up some basic gardening books and read up a little on it. And when I feel I'm ready I'll be heading to the store and picking up some flowers and create my own little nook! I'm excited!
